I was walking by the shops at AMK interchange. Some shops were not openned yet. I saw this well-fed cat sleeping just outside the shop, along the walkway.
It behaved like there is no care in the world. Totally trusting its surrounding passerbys. I live in a neighbourhood where the stray cats don’t run away from humans. Everynight, there would be a few people that would bring goodies to feed these stray cats. Some bring packets of biscuits. Another would bring rice and minced meat. And some bring canned food.
No cat would be skinny. You wont see cats running away from humans, to hide under cars. I went Toa Payoh once and a stray cat run away immediately after i called it (mi mi). So different from the cats in AMK.
I think AMK is an estate for pet lovers. Its near the Bishan park where there is a dog park. Its also near Serangoon North Ave 4. Where the largest number of pet shops are situated.
There is this shop that sells VCD and its shares the shop with someone that sells fruits and another that duplicates keys.
This fat tabby cat is always found sleeping on top of all the VCDs. Customers that come to duplicate their keys would give it few strokes while waiting for their keys.
Just like the cat sleeping outside the shop, this cat also portrayed the same thing—that humans are harmless
At my block this cat will sit the lift with people and adventure around the block. If people left their doors open, you will have a surprise when you go to sleep. This cat would make its ways into people’s bed and sleep there. When being chased out, it will just mew and walk away calmly. Some residents dont mind. So their beds are open to this daring cat.
I found many of such ‘cat culture’ all over AMK. At the steps of the bridge, on top of cars at the carparks, rolling on the grass at Bishan Park…Its like Cat World.
Once i went Bishan Park, i even saw this lady who sat on the bench with her cat. When she stood up to leave…the cat jumped off the bench and followed behind her like a dog. And the amazing thing is that the cat wasnt leashed! While walking behind its owner, the lady was talking to it. And it responded by mewing back.
The cats at AMK are so comfortable that they do not fight with each other for food. On a hot sunny day, you can find cats under cars, cuddling against each other and sleeping.
Talking about hamsters. These furry balls. They dont make much noise but their silent actions can really torture people as much as cats. The way the prean themselves with those tiny hands. The way they just sit there with their round buttocks, looking at you.
The way they sleep! And misuse everything you buy for them. The running wheel is their gym, toilet and bed. The food bowl is also their bed. The way they curl up into a furry ball while they sleep is also torturing.
My best friend and i went Pet Safari once at Vivo city…and were greatly tortured by the hamsters there. There were all sleeping in clusters. In one cage, about 10 hamsters squeezed into a running wheel to sleep. Some were squashed by the ones on top and some had half their bodies dangling out. But still they looked so peaceful sleeping in such uncomfortable arrangements.
Another cage had a handful hamsters sleeping in a food bowl. Sleeping in standing positions and heads drooping out of the bowl. Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Please send them to prison. They do the cutest things without even realising it. Research shows that keeping pets will lower your blood pressure. But feeling like squeezing these cute things to death everytime you see them…i dont think will help with your blood pressure.
So i say everytime they innocently torture us with their cuteness, send them to prison.
Have you ever heard of pets who dont behave like animals but behave like humans? Because they forget they are actually animals and want to share the same priviledge as us. Like the same food, sleep on the same bed…
My most favorite dog in the world Pipi died few months ago. He is always dear to me. He does all the silliest things. He sneaks out dirty clothes from the laundry basket at night just to press them under his feet, and lie on them.
He likes to pull cushions from the sofa. Lie on them with his belly just in the centre of the cushion. His legs and head will be out of the cushion. Like how a human will use a cushion when she is lying on the floor, on her stomach while watching tv. We use to call him princess when he uses the cushion in this way.
Sometimes i would just grap him on my lap like a baby, and hug him tightly. Cos i dunno how to react to his cuteness.
Pets have one universal liking for one thing. Which is stroking. Once they start having it, they cant get enough of it. They love to be stroked. They loved to be given attention.
Have you seen cats lying just in the centre of the pavement? Each time someone walks by, they seem to feel stroked by our gaze. The place that i stay, there seem to be an unspoken heirachy for where they choose to lie.
Those who manage to take up the good spots will get more people passing by. Bad spots are like the rubbish dump, where it is abit further from the pathway. Those who get bad spots are smaller sized cats.
If you are an animal lover and understand what i say. You would know how animals can torture you with just Cuteness. And its more torturing when you know they torture you without even knowing it! Sometimes you wanna squeeze them so hard. Or whack their buttocks.
This is my verdict…
‘Awww’ Cute - 10 years jail
Heart achingly Cute - 50 years jail
Pulling out your hair Cute - life imprisonment
