After a certain amount of time in the wilderness, i come out of it exhausted but very appreciative of the simple things in life.
My main aim in life now…is to build on your character, have a proper focus in life and achieve something in life that would be something worth talking about when i die. Family is very impt to me. The world is so complicated now. My greatest fear is for my children to miss out on the real importance about life.
You know how some people cant help but become their parents, even though some traits are bad.
I am trying my very best not to adopt the bad traits that my parents have. My mother loves money so she can spend more of it. My father loves money because money = status. And more of it = more status.
I was once told, not to have high expectations before you try something, so you wont be disappointed later. I disagree with this mindset, you dont place too high expectations on yourself…BUT you gotta have a positive mindset on the task. That you wanna do well, that you wanna enjoy it. When you dun expect, you wont aim to achieve to be better. In nursing what we call a ‘baseline’. We record patient’s vital signs (BP, pulse and respiration) before we do a procedure. Then after that we take again to know if the patient has improved or worsen.
So in life…its the same. You gotta give yourself a ‘baseline’.
Another thing that my parents have that i dont wish to adopt. The way they look and society’s ethical issues.
Everyone seems to have an ulterior motive. In my years of working, i learn that not all people can be trusted. But you still gotta work with them and put your character aside while working. But i also learn that when you do your work properly ( protecting your ass), you give no room for people to talk about you or find fault. And kindness always wins. It may be longterm but kindness wins.
How about bribery? Misuse of funds? Do your work, dun get involved. Justice will have its way eventually. Be like wolves in the workplace, be on the alert but be also like a dove, that is gentle.
I was once told,"think smart, act blur." which is a valuable advice.
My motto for the job i look for- " to work for a cause and not the cost"
Do you find it amazing how when people ask about your job…
1. What do you do?
2. How much your earn?
The main focus is actually about the salary. Like how people compare their children, husbands etc.
Why do people not ask if you enjoy your work?
When i get a breakthrough in my mindset, i begin to know that many of things dont matter. So what if you earn thousands and you dunno how to be humble? So what if you have a high position when you dunno how to think in people’s shoes? So what if you are part of high society when you dunno how to appreciate the simple things in life?
I wanna set a good foundation for my children. And it starts from me. I want them to be unafraid of hard work, have compassion for the less fortunate, respect people that have fallen and picked themselves up, learn that the main aim in life is not to earn lots of money but to treasure the relationships that are beneficial to their life (where you heart is, your treasure is also)…which is their family, friends that are closer than family and of cos your Maker.
And lastly, not pass through life hiding under the radar, just to get by. But contribute your talents. Not just for yourself, but for others. One of the phrase from a song that i like,"…and my name brings glory to the Lamb…"
Yes, i wanna leave this world with my name Bemish that will bring glory.
I pray when God blesses me and my family with wealth and success in career, we will not forget our humble beginnings and remember to appreciate the simple things. And not to lose focus on whats ‘really’ important in life.
