Wedding Dos

1.Everything has to be even numbers. Don’t ask why

2.Buy wedding cakes to give to as many relatives as possible, even though it will be thrown away

3.Ask the superstitious people involved to count the auspicious hours way ahead of time

4.Negotiate before hand on paying respects to ancestors (if you are not comfortable)

Note;
- The superstitious people believe that children are given by ancestors. If in case
someone says that to you. Please denounce it in your head

5. Buy a red fan and throw it out of the bridal car when you leave for the groom’s
house. The fan must be picked up by a virgin girl

6. Parents are served tea before grandparents at the chinese wedding tea ceremony

7. The bride and groom will first enter the groom's family home under the pants of the groom's unmarried elder brother. (it happens my brother in-law has very smelly pants that is unwashed)

8. The bride must change clothes before her home visit to symbolize the passage of 3 days

9. A whole roast pig with tail is given to the bride's family at the bride's home visit to declare that she was a virgin before marriage

10. Some family requires a matchmaker to accompany the groom when he arrives at their door to fetch the bride

11. The groom must not open the car door when he arrives to fetch his bride. He has to wait patiently for the bride's younger brother to open the bridal car door for him. (and if my younger brother is 24 years old? How young is young?)

12.The betrothal gifts are delivered up to a month and at least three days before the wedding day. The groom and a friend or a matchmaker will deliver the gifts on the auspicious date chosen



Wedding Don’ts

1.Attending someone’s wedding who is less than 3 months away from own

Note;
-Sometimes applies to both solemnization events and wedding banquet
-Sometimes you are allowed to attend if you don’t mind your marriage life being cursed for life
-If the bride meets another bride on the wedding day their luck may clash. The matchmakers or the bestmen from the two bridal parties will exchange red packets on the couple’s behalf to neutralize the effect of the clash

2.People who’s relative has just passed away are not allowed to attend your wedding

3.People who are born of a cow or tiger are not allowed to participate in the tea ceremony

Note;
-It only applies to the morning as during the night event, you are already considered married over. So it does not matter. Also applies even though you are already registered under the law as husband and wife

4. Do not take off your shoes until your chinese wedding ceremony is over

5. Do not visit a lady who is in confinement

6. Do not have a wedding if one of the parents passes away, the bride or groom has to be in mourning, the wedding will either be conducted within 100 days of the death, or postponed till 3 years (1000 days) after the death

7. It is preferred that no one sleeps or sits on the bridal bed after its installation and blessing for fertility. If however, the groom needs to sleep on it before the wedding he should be accompanied by a young boy preferably born in the year of the dragon. To leave one side of the bridal bed empty is considered a curse on the health of the couple



Food Dos

1.Eat lots of durian during your pregnancy. Its heaty and heaty is good during pregnancy

2.Drink lots of milk or soya bean milk during your pregnancy so that your child will be as fair as milk

3.Eat lots of fruits so during your pregnancy so that you will be cool and less agitated

4.Eat lots of vegetables during your pregnancy so your child will have lots of hair




Food Don’ts

1.Eating durian during heaty season as you will have snake disease

2.Eating beef during pregnancy as your child will become as stubborn as a cow

3.Eating mutton during your pregnancy as your child will develop brain epilepsy

4.Eating chicken during your pregnancy as your child will be as talkative as a chicken

5.Drinking lots of water as you will wash out all your nutrients

6.Drinking cooling things like watermelon as you will cause your child to self-abort

7.Eating prawns when you have a open wound, you will have itchy wound and would not heal properly

8.Eating peanut butter when you have an open wound because it will cause wound to be very flowery. Therefore cannot heal properly

9.Eating chicken when you have a cough because you will cough more like a chicken

Note;
-Does not apply to duck because ducks don’t cluck

10.Eating food with dark soya sauce when you have an open wound or chickenpox. Because it will cause your wound to turn as black as soya sauce
